Neighbourhood Policing Week

We’ve had a wet and windy start to #NeighbourhoodPolicingWeek in Rochdale this morning. As part of today’s theme of “putting police back on the beat” here’s a quick snapshot of what your neighbourhood team have been up to…

On P1 Rochdale North your local NBOs PC Maestro and student officer PC Robinson have been out walking their beat – up and down Yorkshire Street, all the way up Drake Street up to the retail park and railway station, through the Interchange and around our wonderful Town Hall – if you spot them, come and say hello. Rochdale Town Centre is an amazing place to live, work and visit, and over the past few months our NBO team have worked really hard to set up #OpTetbury which is our Clear Hold Build working closely with partner agencies to re-imagine a better Town Centre for everyone. Targeted activity is part of our every-day role and today we have conducted joint visits with Trading Standards. Meanwhile, Sgt Toward and Sgt Shirazi are out and about in the rain looking for prolific offenders with PC Coyne, and we have a new student officer with us for the day called Rachel.

On P2 Sgt Uppal and his team are busy problem solving. This involves using a mixture of techniques to look at the interplay between repeat offenders, victims and locations. This can take time, and we work closely with the community in order to do it. Over the past few months PCs Dan, Adil and Ellie have built some really good relationships with residents and businesses. They are out and about today targeting the prolific hotspots around Kingsway retail Park and identifying those that cause crime and ASB on the travel network. 

Engaging with our communities comes naturally with neighbourhood Policing. It involves working with our communities to build confidence and trust. On P3 Sgt Taala’s team of PCSOs have attended a community engagement event, and patrolled their beats

Our Prevention Hub is a key part of our Neighbourhood policing offer and here in Rochdale. We have a team of partner agencies that work with us to problem solve, to signpost people to services, and to reduce demand across different agencies. PC Rickell has been out conducting a licensing operation
